Woodworking Weekend started with a simple problem: most woodworking content online is either too vague to actually build from, or written for professionals who already own a $3,000 table saw.

We built this site for the other kind of woodworker — the person who wants to build real, useful things on a Saturday afternoon without spending a fortune on tools or wading through jargon-heavy guides.

What We Cover

Every article on Woodworking Weekend is written to be genuinely useful to a beginner or intermediate builder:

  • Free project plans — with actual cut lists, materials lists, and step-by-step instructions
  • Tool guides — honest reviews focused on what a beginner actually needs, not what looks impressive
  • Timber guides — plain-English explanations of lumber sizing, wood species, and what to buy at Bunnings
  • Finishing guides — how to stain, seal, and finish your projects so they look professional
  • Selling guides — for those who want to turn their hobby into a side income

Our Approach

We write for the Australian woodworker. That means metric measurements alongside imperial, references to timber and hardware available at Bunnings and Mitre 10, and honest notes about Australian building permit requirements where they apply.

We don’t pad our guides with filler. If a project can be explained clearly in 1,000 words, we don’t stretch it to 3,000. If a tool is overhyped, we say so.
